“Automatic writing” used to be something only fortune-tellers did… Now it’s moving to journalism. Beginning this month (September), Agence France Presse will test automatic writing of media articles with its German subsidiary, Sport Information Dienst, SID (Sports Information Service) – no human hands or brains involved.
German software company AUXEA is providing the technology, which creates automatic writing texts from algorithms and database manually fed by journalists. The pilot program will produce only sporting events announcements, but AFP foresees automatic writing creating texts tailored to customer demands.
